Ben Hiles - Founder and Director of Ben Hiles Wealth Management, with the UBHWRFC squad

We are delighted to announce our new partnership with Ben Hiles Wealth Management. Ben and his team of highly experienced financial advisors are based in Clifton and offer management advice for people at all stages of their life and financial journey.

Ben is a passionate rugby fan, with a rich family heritage within the Bristol Rugby scene, and spends a lot of his time supporting his children in their sporting endeavours. The team at Ben Hiles Wealth Management have generously sponsored our new rugby shirts for the forthcoming seasons, and we are incredibly grateful to finally have our own women’s kit!

When meeting Ben, we were struck by his interest not only in our on-field success and our rugby journey, but in our wider student community, club values and well-being agenda. As a club, we are excited to watch this partnership flourish, ensuring that our shared values are nurtured to give our players the best possible support both on and off the pitch.

Ben has said:

“We’re delighted to be the main shirt sponsor of the UBHWRFC and look forward to supporting them on their rugby journey.  Rugby is close to our hearts at Ben Hiles Wealth Management and to be able to support a young, up and coming club is really exciting for us.  We look forward to cheering the team on from the touchline supporting all those involved with the club!”

Bristol County Sports Club

Social Venue, ongoing

Sportsmans - Bristol County Sports Club has a historic past. The club was founded in 1892 by a group of sportsmen, including the great Dr. W.G. Grace, as a central point for the city's various sporting personalities to meet. They called it the Century Club, and limited membership to 100. Now, they non-members are welcome to the pub too - though as part of the UBH, our club members benefit from special offers and discounted prices on food and drink.

Found in the heart of Bristol, The Sportsmans is the hub for social activity in the UBHRFC. We have access to a private function room to offer food and refreshment after fixtures, and host regular socials throughout the year. We have frequented the club since 2016 and our relationship has only flourished over the years - with our captain's board hanging proudly and many UBH shirts and memorabilia within, it is a fantastic home for our club.

The Sportsmans has been a wonderful friend to the UBH and we look forward to this continuing for many years to come.

Macron Store - Bristol

Kit Supplier, ongoing

Working in conjunction with Keith & Lesley Leaker of Imperial Sports, Work & Leisurewear, Macronstore Bristol showcases the exciting range on offer from Macron Technical Sportswear of Italy. They have kindly supplied the whole club's match-day kits and training sportswear for many years now and we have been continually impressed at the design and quality of kit.

"Whilst specialising in Rugby & Football, we also offer an extensive range that covers Basketball, Netball, Hockey, Volleyball and Running. Our in-house embroidery and printing service affords you real flexibilty when designing and decorating your kit."

We are incredibly grateful for all the time and effort the Macron team put into producing our kits, and look forward to all future clothing we will work on together.

Charity Partners

Ted Senior Foundation

Mental Health and Suicide Prevention

The Ted Senior Foundation (TSF) are an incredibly close charity to the UBHRFC. Their core aim is to support those struggling with mental health challenges and create a culture where wellbeing is a priority and people can seek support in difficult times. Tackling stigma is an important aspect to creating that open culture, but a difficult aspect of that is allowing those conversations to feel truly comfortable and natural.

The 'Ted's Friends' scheme allows us to make mental wellbeing a regular topic that everyone in the club is familiar with. TSF offers several of our club members an accredited Mental Health First Aid training qualification from MHFA England, so there are accessible and visible people within the club to speak to for concerns, guidance, or just a chat. The scheme has also been fantastic at normalising conversation around many moments (both challenging and hopeful) that everyone experiences, but often don't feel comfortable talking about casually. With support from TSF, Ted's Friends within the club are able to take fellow students for a coffee or snack to chat about anything from specific topics to general catch ups if someone is feeling a moment of loneliness, for example, without having to worry about the money or judgement.

Each year at our Medics Varsity day against Cardiff Medics, the Ted Senior Memorial Cup is awarded to the 1st XV rugby victor, and it is lovely to see Ted's family at the event so often. We're so grateful for such a close friendship between the UBH and all of Ted's family and friends who work with us to improve the wellbeing of our student population.

Cots for Tots

St Michael's Hospital Neonatal Intensive Care Unit

Cots for Tots is a Bristol-based charity that helps families with critically ill or premature babies being treated in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at St Michael’s Hospital. Part of Wallace & Gromit’s Grand Appeal, it was set up in 2010 to offer support when families need it most.

At its heart is the Cots for Tots House - a warm, welcoming place just across the road from the hospital where families can stay for free. It means parents can be close to their baby day and night, without the worry of travel, hotel costs, or being far from home at such a difficult time. They also helps fund life-saving equipment for the NICU, supports the South West Neonatal Advice and Retrieval (SoNAR) team, and provides therapies and wellbeing support to help families and staff cope with the challenges of neonatal care. Each year, over 800 babies from across the South West and South Wales are treated in the NICU.

Thanks to Cots for Tots, their families don’t have to face that journey alone. Through donations, fundraising events, and community support, the charity brings practical help and comfort to hundreds of people when they need it most.

Each December, we spend an evening Christmas carolling with donation buckets around Clifton, Bristol with hopes of fundraising as much as possible in aid of Cots for Tots. Since the pandemic, we have struggled to organise an evening for it, but we're excited for a return to fundraising for the more than deserving charity this year.
